The executive commitee and majority of our support network work on a voluntary basis. We have recently employed some staff but most of the people who run the club, make the tea, run activities, organise things and clear up afterwards - they are all doing it as volunteers.

Our volunteers are great and we couldn't run without them. The only trouble is - we don't have enough of them!!!!

In order to volunteer with Bournemouth Gateway Club we ask these things:

  • you have an enhanced CRB check done (we will be using Mencap as our umbrella organisation)
  • you commit to attending at least once a month (but more if possible) and let us know in advance which sessions you can help with
  • you let us know as soon as possible if you cant come when you are expected
  • you treat everyone with respect and abide by the club rules, constitution and policies and proceedures
  • you MUST have a sense of humour!
  • you spend your time engaging with the members - either organising activities, playing games, supporting people to do things or just having a chat (and if the tea needs making or the washing up needs doing please help out)
  • you chip in and do what ever is needed at the time
  • Complete this form (Click to download) Volunteer_Application_Form.doc
  • Ensure you have the ID documents listed here: CRB ID check

We have employers liabilty insurance and this covers you as a volunteer at the club. There may be the opportunity to undertake training, but this is entirely your choice.
